RYALLCOURT COCKER SPANIELS

I HAVE BEEN SURROUNDED BY AN ASSORTMENT OF ANIMALS ALL MY LIFE, HORSES, 2 OR 3 DOGS (NOW SEVERAL MORE) + THE OCCASIONAL LITTER DUCKS, CHICKENS TURKEYS AND THE ODD CAT.

DURING MY SCHOOL DAYS I SPENT THE SUMMER MONTHS TRAVELLING THE LENGTH AND BREADTH OF THE COUNTRY WITH SHOW PONIES, THIS IS WHERE, I BELIEVE, I CAUGHT THE BUG FOR COMPETITION. DURING THE WINTER I PREPARED 2 HUNTERS ONE OF WHICH BELONGED TO THE QUEENS COUSIN. I HAD A THOROUGHBRED MARE AT HOME, PURLEY PLEASURE,

MY MOTHER HAS HAD SEVERAL BREEDS OF DOGS OVER THE YEARS INC POODLES, BASSET HOUNDS AND LABRADORS. IN 1986 AFTER SEVERAL VISITS TO SHOWS, LOTS OF CONVERSATIONS AND INVESTIGATION AND MUCH CHASING ROUND WE PURCHASED OUR FIRST COCKER SPANIEL, A BLUE BITCH OF “COLTRIM” BREEDING. VERY SHORTLY AFTER THIS MY INTEREST IN THE BREED BECAME TOTAL COMMITMENT (MY FATHER USED TO SAY AN OBSESSION) BLUEBELL AND I HAD SUCH FUN. NEVER BRED FROM OR SHOWN AT CHAMPIONSHIP LEVEL (SHE WAS NOT CONSIDERED GOOD ENOUGH) SHE WAS A HUGE PERSONALITY RIGHT TO THE END, AND LIVED TO BE ALMOST 15 YEARS.

A “CARON” BITCH JOIND US IN 1988, SHE PRODUCED RYALLCOURT FIRST EDITION (ROSIE) AND LIVING UP TO HER NAME WAS MY FIRST RYALLCOURT COCKER TO ACHIEVE A JW, A STUD BOOK NUMBER AND TO QUALIFY FOR CRUFTS.

ROSIE IN TIME PRODUCED SH CH R PIE IN THE SKY JW WHO TOTALLED 4CC”S, 6RCC”S AND THE GUNDOG GROUP AT THE EAST OF ENGLAND CH SHOW. TO ME A VERY SPECIAL DOG. UNAWARE OF WHAT THE INSIDE OF A KENNEL LOOKS LIKE HE HAD DINNER, BED AND BREAKFAST AT HOME WITH ME AND SPENT THE DAYTIME WITH MUM WHILST I WAS AT WORK. – NOT AT ALL SPOILT !!! WE SAID GOODBYE TO “PIE” AT THE AGE OF 13.

R BOLLINGER FOLLOWED ON FROM PIE HE HAD 2 RCC’S TO HIS CREDIT. FOLLOWED BY THE BLACK AND WHITE TWINS, R SPARKLING ROSE AND HER CRAZY BROTHER SH CH R CAUSING CHAOS. WHO IS NOT ONLY CHAOS BY NAME BUT CHAOS BY NATURE.

SH CH R PIE-D PIPER FOLLOWED ALONG WITH A YOUNG BLUE DOG FROM THE FAMOUS LYNWATER KENNEL.

R WIND CHIME AND SH CH R MOLOH WERE NEXT.

THE HIGHLIGHT FOR ME WAS HANDLING MY HOMEBRED SH CH R MOLOH TO BIS AT THE COCKERS SPANIEL CLUBS CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW IN 2012.

I HAVE AWARDED CC’S IN THE UK ON THREE OCCASIONS.

I ENJOY SEEING MY DOGS RUNNING ACROSS OPEN FIELDS AS MUCH AS I DO SHOWING THEM AND I NEVER FORGET THAT WIN, DRAW OR LOSE, I TAKE THE BEST DOGS HOME WITH ME AT THE END OF THE DAY. THOUGH A WIN OCCASIONALLY MAKES ALL THE WORK WORTH WHILE.

I FEEL VERY HONOURED, INFACT HUMBLED TO HAVE BEEN INVITED TO JUDGE AT THE COCKER SPANIEL CLUB OF VICTORIA. A ONCE IN A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE.

I WOULD LIKE TO SINCERELY THANK THE OFFICERS AND COMMITTEE FOR THIS INVITATION.

I AM SO EXCITED AT THE THOUGHT OF JUDGING YOUR DOGS AND BEING AMONGST LIKE MINDED PEOPLE COMMITTED TO THE HEALTH AND WELFARE OF THIS VERY SPECIAL BREED, THE FOUR LEGGED FRIENDS WE CHOOSETO SHARE OUR LIVES WITH, THE COCKER SPANIEL.
