Colours
 

One of the most fascinating aspects of this breed is its many variations in coat colour & indeed of markings. Few breeds can boast such a spectrum!

The current breed standard says :-

"Colour: Various. In self colours no white allowed except on chest"

Solid Colours usually comprise: -

  • Black
  • Liver
  • Red
  • Golden
  • Black and Tan
  • Sable

Parti Colours (Roans) usually comprise: -

  • Blue roan (there are various shades to this colour)
  • Blue roan and Tan
  • Black and White
  • Black, White and Tan
  • Liver roan, sometimes referred to as chocolate roan
  • Orange roan
  • Red and White
  • Lemon roan (with light brown pigmentation) This colour is the most recessive of all the roans
